TIPSImportant Question from NEET PG

Answer : D. Difference in the size of images formed by the two eyes
Explanation :

Aniseikonia refers to a condition in which the image seen by one eye differs in size or shape from that seen by the other.

Aetiology:

  • Optical  aniseikonia: may occur due to inherent or acquired anisometropia of high degree.
  • Retinal  aniseikonia: may develop due to displacement of retinal elements towards the nodal point in one eye and stretching or oedema of the retina
  • Cortical aniseikonia implies symmetrical simultaneous perception in spite of equal sizes of images formed on the two retinae.
