Henoch–Schonlein Purpura
- Henoch–Schonlein purpura (HSP) is the multisystem form of primary IgA nephropathy.
- It is a form of leukocytoclastic vasculitis with IgA-dominant immune deposits affecting small vessels of the skin, joints, gastrointestinal system, and kidney.
- It is most common in children.
- The classic tetrad of signs and symptoms includes rash, arthralgias, abdominal pain, and renal disease.
- In patients with normal kidney function, treatment is generally supportive.
